ISHB 300 is used as primary columns in heavy industrial buildings up to 10 m height, column sections in portal frame structures carrying significant wind and gravity load, and stanchions in heavy-duty mezzanine and overhead crane structures. The fixed 250 mm flange width gives a wide base plate footprint while the increased 300 mm depth provides greater strong-axis stiffness than ISHB 250 — important where columns carry substantial bending moment in one plane.
